The PMD661 records directly onto SD or SDHC solid-state media, providing hours of reliable digital capture with no moving parts. Choose from 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz sample rates at 16- or 24-bit quantization, creating either .WAV (BWF) file or MP3 files at a choice of multiple bit rates. Upgraded mic preamps and input level control assure full performance from outboard mics, and both stereo and true mono
recording are supported.

From input to output, the PMD661 offers full-featured, professional hardware. Two mic/line switchable XLR inputs accept outboard microphones, while the S/PDIF input handles digital transfers. The XLR inputs can provide full 48V phantom microphone power, and exceptional
onboard preamps assure exceptional performance. In addition, two high quality condenser mics and stereo speakers are fully integrated into the body, while a rugged ¼-inch headphone jack with volume control accepts
professional headphones. Finally, a USB 2.0 port makes file makes file transfers a breeze – just connect the PMD661 to any computer and drag and drop to your desktop.
Ergonomic Design
The large, easy-view OLED display on the PMD661 front panel provides at-a-glance system status, with multifunction buttons under the display screen that prompt the user through recording, editing and file marking with ease. The one-touch transport system makes recording, playback, and transcription operations intuitive and straightforward. Tracking audio levels is easy with the 10-segment LED meter, cleverly angled for easy viewing from the front or the top.
Editing and Playback Features
Whether monitoring audio, editing digital files or transcribing, the PMD661 offers a full range of tools to assist you. Copy Segment and File Divide functions allow instant field editing. In addition, the included PMD Mark Editor software provides extensive editing functions on PC for immediate
distribution. A lithium battery tracks real time, allowing Timer Record and Timer Playback. Transcription functions include playback pitch control and user-definable skipback.
Rugged Portability
The size, weight and construction of the PMD661 are carefully designed to provde lightweight portability, tabletop stability and field-worthy ruggedness. Four AA alkalines provide over five hours of record time, and NiMH rechargeables are also accommodated. The case is made from high-ompact ABS plastic with metal faceplate, and the XLR and headphone jacks are ruggedized for field use. The PMD661 also features an integral tripod adapter, allowing it to be mounted on camera tripods or mic stands.
